I'm not quite sure why, but I find today's card from the Steampunk Tarot (Charissa Drengsen, 2010) incredibly powerful. Hmm, perhaps taking a deeper look will show me why...
In this version of the Ace of Swords we see that Charissa associates the suit of Swords with whips. It's an association that I think works well - whips are still a weapon, and one with which we can beat either ourselves or others.
Here we see a whip held high, ready to be brought down on some unsuspecting person. It is held aloft by a hand, the only bit of colour in a cold, grey, wintery scene. In the distance, a man walks under a bridge. Is he walking towards us or away? Overhead, a dark branch reaches down, intimating that we are surrounded by trees. Yet there is clearer air in the distance. With this whip we can get things moving, and pass into greater clarity. There is no promise of warmth, but there is the potential for movement and opening up ideas.
What new idea or way of communicating might you be able to get in touch with today? And where might it lead you? Can you be open to the new, to hearing something unexpected? How can you make the most of a truth, whether easy or hard?

LOL this scene immediately reminded me of the recent episode of Sherlock with Irene Adler. (Catchphrase "I know what s/he likes" ;D )
ReplyDeleteFor me. the Ace of Swords is very much about gaining new information - how apt!
Ania, I can see exactly why you said that! And an interesting take on the Ace of Swords, thanks :) Love Aces!
ReplyDeleteNice interpretation of this image!
ReplyDeleteThat whip as you say is being held high ready to come down, but what strikes me about it, is that it will cut through the air first before it hits its target— air being the element associated with Swords. The whip cutting through it makes me think of cutting through those thoughts, and clearing the way so that one can keep those ideas etc in line with their goal.
Taking that initial idea/thought and setting it in motion also comes to mind here with the motion of the whip, grabbing it and making it work for you, so that all its potential can be realised.
Just my thoughts on this interesting image.
Best whishes, Helen
Hi Ania,
ReplyDeleteYes, gaining new information is definitely one of the positives of this Ace. And I can see how the image would link to Sherlock ;)
Hi Louise,
Yeah, gotta love that Ace energy :)
Hi Helen,
Ooh, hadn't thought about whips cracking through air - very interesting take on it. I definitely saw the movement aspect, but that does add a different dimension, thank you!
Best wishes,
Chloƫ
