Although not charging head-long into anything, his eyes glow a fiery red inside his dark hood, and he doesn't seem static as he sits astride his steed. Behind him, a full moon gleams in a cloudy sky, and mist swirls around him. He holds the reins to his horse calmly, riding with confidence.
I like the symbols Lo Scarabeo used on this deck to denote the different Court positions. Kings and Queens have stylised busts, Pages have bats, and the Knights have roaring lions. These certainly express the dynamic, proud energy of the Knights.
This card speaks to me of a powerful drive to push forward: those glowing eyes in particular seem to show his intent and focus, ready to burn holes in anyone who gets in his way. And perhaps he needs that intensity to ride so calmly through a stormy, misty night. He feels like a warrior guarding some mystery, riding the perimeter with eyes peeled for any threat to what he protects, ever vigilant. He also has the look of a zealot, willing to do whatever it takes for the cause he believes in.
What idea or cause impassions you today? Might you be ignoring something due to your intent focus? Do you feel defensive about something that you do or believe in? How might that influence how you respond to others? What can you do today that would feel worthwhile?
For a Knight of Wands he's pretty still, isn't he? Although he IS moving forwards and his horse has the perky and interested expression around the ears that I look for in a Knight of Wands.
ReplyDeleteHis eyes are the only feature of his face (if, indeed he HAS a face *cure Hammer Horror sound effects*) but I have difficulty linking my understanding of the Knight of Wands with this character, even with your (again!) outstanding interpretation of him.
I'm not a huge fan of Vampire decks, I don't own any at all, but I do like the artwork in this deck very much indeed.
Do I feel defensive about something that I believe in? Yes I do. But it seems to be sorting itself out :-)

ReplyDeleteYes, I agree that his horse is really the one who shows the forward movement here. Glad you found my interpretation brought a bit of life to him, so to speak :)
Hope your feelings of defensiveness continue to subside - shall look forward to a new Hestia post soon!
